“Love isn’t something that we have, it’s something that we do”
– Clint Black
Couples therapy begins with an assessment session to discuss reasons for seeking therapy, current patterns that are not working, relationship history and so on. Following the assessment, the therapist will meet individually once with each partner. During this hour, a more in depth social and family history is taken. Between the first couples session and the second couples session, the “Gottman Relationship Check-Up” assessment is e-mailed to the couple. This confidential assessment takes a closer look at the couples strengths and challenges, it also provides the therapist with detailed clinical feedback and suggestions for treatment.
Complementary Phone Consultation
This 10-15 minute phone calls allows us to briefly discuss why you are seeking services, what you are hoping to get out of our time together, issues surrounding insurance and payment and setting up an initial assessment. Our conversation will also allow you to discover if you think we may be a good therapeutic fit. Once this phone consultation is completed we encourage you to fill out all the intake documents prior to our session. This allows us to spend our first session on you and not your paperwork.
